Readings for Today

There can be times in our spiritual lives when we do not grow because we do not focus on deepening our relationship with Jesus, but look to something or someone else to take his place.  We can seek to fill ourselves with things, or money, or food, or alcohol or drugs.  Any number of things can become like gods to us.  St. Paul references this in Philippians 3:19:  “Their end is destruction. Their God is their stomach; their glory is in their “shame.” Their minds are occupied with earthly things.
