I bet you doubt too. It is easy for Thomas to be singled out today for doubting the word of the apostles about the resurrection of Jesus. Sometimes the resurrection is so familiar to us we forget what it means. Dead people do not come back to life. But we may find ourselves doubting our faith too. Can a person be a scientist and a person of faith, or do you doubt? Can persons change their whole lives because of the gospel, or do they doubt? Do I engage in daily prayer because I need to foster my relationship with Jesus or do I doubt? Can I say, as Thomas did, “My Lord and my God!”
Homily given on April 27, 2019, at Our Lady of Lourdes Parish, University City, Missouri.
