Homily: Trust the Promises

One of the hardest parts of preaching is not delivering the homily, but rather to follow one’s own words. It is easy, for example, to say, “Love your enemies”, but much harder to actually do it. The way a Dominican priest faced his death was one of the most edifying moments of my life. “I trust the promises,” he said to me. It got me thinking and reflecting. Do I? Do I trust the promises of Jesus enough to place my life in his hands?
