Readings for Today

I do not know how many Catholics realize just how deep were the divisions in the early Church. Perhaps none was more serious than the question of what to do with those were not Jewish but were followers of Jesus. To be baptized, did they have to commit to all the Jewish dietary laws? Or, put another way, did they have to become Jewish before being baptized and becoming Christians?
