Readings for Today

This is my first, feeble attempt at a response to the recent revelations in our country, first about Archbishop McCarrick, and secondly after the Pennsylvania Grand Jury report. I do not know, really, what to say. I am forcing myself to read the Pennsylvania Grand Jury report. As I read about each victim, I am praying for them. I need time to process all of this, and so today’s homily is not about what the Church needs to do in the face of all of this. I need to think about that more. But there are a couple of things that become clear to me in reflecting and praying on the readings. First, I am not ready to forgive. And second, I do need to become more holy.
